István Hanga, who lives in Kecskemét, is a representative of a multi-generational family of watchmakers originally from Izsák. For decades, he has been collecting artifacts related to the watchmaking craft with great dedication. In 2013, as part of the House of Collections project, his collection was placed on deposit at the Bozsó Collection.
The exhibition showcases objects preserved for their beauty or uniqueness, ranging from the smallest wristwatches to tower clocks, and from 18th-century technical rarities to 20th-century modern timepieces. Visitors can peek into an old clockmaker’s workshop and see the former mechanism of the Old Church in Kecskemét up close. The valuable clocks and old tools evoke a world where not everything around us was digitally controlled.
